No one likes a grumpy gill.

This video helps explain feelings.
In our class, we will experience a lot of different feelings. Sometimes we will be happy for making a good grade, sometimes we will be sad for making a bad grade. Let's all work together to help make our classroom a happy and safe place to be!

Standard 8
Use technology resources (e.g., calculators, data collection probes, videos, educational software) for problem-solving, self-directed learning, and extended learning activities.

It's called Rocket Science for a reason!

This video is about the effects of oxygen on electrons. Bill Nye the Science guy is really smart, and helps all of us learn new things every day.

Standard 5
Students will understand that the sun is the main source of heat and light for things living on Earth. They will also understand that the motion of rubbing objects together may produce heat.
Specifically Objective 3
Demonstrate that heat may be produced when objects are rubbed against one another.
Standard 8
Use technology resources (e.g., calculators, data collection probes, videos, educational software) for problem-solving, self-directed learning, and extended learning activities.
Prezi is one of my most favorite websites to use to share information. It's so easy to navigate and easy to put in the facts.

All about them 8's

Times tables can be hard, especially those numbers higher than 5.
This fun video takes a popular song to help us remember that 8 is great.

Standard 8
Use technology resources (e.g., calculators, data collection probes, videos, educational software) for problem-solving, self-directed learning, and extended learning activities.

3.OA.D Solve problems involving the four operations, and identify and explain patterns in arithmetic.
9.  Identify arithmetic patterns (including patterns in the addition table or multiplication table), and explain them using properties of operations. For example, observe that 4 times a number is always even, and explain why 4 times a number can be decomposed into two equal addends.

A B C, it's easy as 1 2 3!

This fun video helps us learn what each of the letters say. Even though there are 26 letters, each letter has many different pronunciations.

Language Standard 1
Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.
c.  Explain the function of nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs in general and their functions in particular sentences
e.
Use abstract nouns (e.g., childhood).

Don't have a fight with numbers, be grrrrrrreat!

I know you've dressed up like a pirate AT LEAST ONCE in your life. Let's see how these pirates add with numbers.

Standard 8
Use technology resources (e.g., calculators, data collection probes, videos, educational software) for problem-solving, self-directed learning, and extended learning activities.

3.NBT.A Use place value understanding and properties of operations to perform multi-digit arithmetic. 2. Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.

Fractions can be half cool.

One thing I have always had a problem with is Fractions! How do you add 1/2 and 1/3? Is it 1/5 or 1/6?! Luckily, I had a math teacher that told us "don't let fractions bully you and steal your lunch money!" Yes it's pretty silly, but it helped me get over my fears and learn how to properly use fractions. If you're still struggling, here's a fun way to learn about Fractions!

1,2,3, Eyes on me!

My name is Ms. Moore and I am from Sugar Land, Texas. I studied two years at Brigham Young University in Hawaii, and now I am finishing up my education at Utah Valley University.

This blog is intended to help inform my future students and parents on what we will do in my classroom. Enjoy!
